I have not watched the Hulu series yet, but I read the book that it is based on. Evidence of Love takes you through details of Candy's life, as well as, details of the grisly murder. This book goes into a lot of backstory about Candy, Betty, and their female pastor. I could understand giving us a little bit of backstory on them, but it seemed like too much, especially on the pastor. I was starting to think she was involved somehow. Spoiler alert: she is not.
It's amazing that so many people supported Candy even after she admitted to the murder. That's what gets me. She must have been a good manipulator with friendships and trust.
I have trouble believing what she said happened is what really happened. What do you think? Like, I'm not really sure if it was self defense. I can see Betty snapping and going crazy because of everything going on in her life and the meds she was taking. But the whole story just seems so crazy. Yes, I think Candy was over her affair at this point, so I don't think Candy would have been the aggressor. So Betty must have been. I just think it was overkill for self defense . Unless Candy snapped, too. I think I need to watch the Hulu series.
If you've read the book or watched the series, what are your thoughts on this murder?
I do recommend this book, though. It really takes you into their minds and makes you really think about what made them tick that day.
