The Thing About Pam - get it now on Amazon Prime.
I finished the NBC true crime series, The Thing About Pam, which is about Pamela Hupp and the Faria Case. I'm actually glad they blew this up into a TV show for a major network because this lady is certifiably cuckoo! I've known it since I first heard of her, which might have been on her very first true crime documentary appearance. How she kept saying she was Betsy's best friend, and trying to make herself out to look like a saint. I knew she was overcompensating for something...and it was most likely covering up the fact that SHE was the murderer! How long did you know there was something about her? Did you pick up on it the very first time you saw the real Pam on TV?
I have not listened to the podcast that this is based on, but the documentaries I saw definitely left a mark on me. I can't believe it took so long for people to see the truth. Poor Russ Faria. I'm so angry that this happened to him. Everyone was so charmed by Pam, that there's no way she could have done it. She was just too nice!!!
Renee Zellweger did a nice job of bringing Pam to life with all of her quirks and nuances. UGH. She was so great at making her so annoying! I wonder if that was a fun character to play. LOL.
After watching the final episode (#6), I thought I had missed something somewhere because it seemed to pick up at an odd place with not a lot of background. I literally went back to the episode guide to see if I had missed an episode! Did anyone else feel that way? I guess they had to squeeze everything into 6 episodes, and they did the best they could with putting most of the emphasis on the Faria case, rightfully so.
If you've listened to the podcast, how closely does the podcast match the TV series?
If Pam Hupp ever writes a book, I would find amusement in reading it just to get an inside glimpse into her insanity.
What are your thoughts on this case? On the series? On Pam Hupp?
